Parents-
Welcome 2017! Just one day into this new year and I can see SUCH a big difference in our classroom. Students have returned from winter break rested, goal oriented, focused, and ready to tackle the end of the year as they prepare for middle school! You will see a lot of changes in your child this semester and we encourage you to embrace these changes at you let your child become a more independent learner. Students should be soley responsible for their schoolwork-celebrating their success and accepting thier downfalls also. This is an important time in your child's life as a student and we look forward to seeing them accept the challenge! This month your child will begin to explore topics of interest to research. They will learn and implement the steps of writing a research project-answering essential questions they formulate. Students will also wrap up their unit of study on fractions-don't worry-we will continue to loop around to these concepts as fractions make up over 50% of their math EOG. There will be a lot of hard work ahead and it will require your child to think outside the box, use their time wisely, and make appropriate plans and choices. As we continue to focus on middle school, I encourage you to talk to your child about taking ownership of their education and making the most of each school day! I update the homework page of this website DAILY so students should know EXACTLY what their assignments are, when test/quizzes are that week, or when things are due. As always, thank you for your continued support! Carr Doerre |
